Soooooo contradictory to the title of this blog post, I just joined Twitter. This doesn't mean I don't believe Twitter is stupid, it just means Iv'e joined in on all the fantastic stupidity Twitter allows me to be an active part of. And God knows we all need more stupid.....as if Facebook wasn't bad enough. So go ahead and join in on all the intelligent and exhilarating fun available for your pleasure at Twitter and go ahead, Follow me! @ginakayx get it? It's my first and middle name, with an x. How clever of me! And when you read it out-loud it sounds like Gina Cakes! Truly a breakthrough. I just can't stand it.

Oh! Speaking of all things ridiculous, I just found my absolute FAVORITE new video as follows:

Dally in the Ally and Spoon Ring

So it has been quite a long time hasn't it? What, 6 months? Yes. Well this whole summer has been amazing, maybe even the best summer yet...
Yesterday I went to Dally in the Ally in Detroit (which is kind of like a art/music festival in downtown Detroit that attracts a plethora of edgy people). Unfortunately I came straight from swimming and my dad didn't take me home first so I ended up going cholrine-y, in baggy sweats, a black fleece hoodie, and Nike trainers. Oh and it was raining! I was simply stunning. And then I had the incredible good luck of running into a few people. Who happened to get to see me in my soggy state. Lucky them!
While there, I got a ring that is made out of a spoon. It is so cute! And the guy who was selling them even gave it to me for $5 off. He must have felt bad for me. haha. He also had these really cool bracelets made out of forks where he bent a fork like a bracelet and bent the prongs (is that the right word) over a stone. They were very cool. My new goal is to create jewelry out of eating utensils. Except I think I may need to learn to use a welder first.

My Latest Attempts at Diversity

Here's a quick update of my current life patterns.
In my Chevy, I listen to country music (based on a recent discussion it decidedly is the only way to be while driving a Chevy)

Sometimes when I'm lazy I wear outfits consisting completely of things I have bought in downtown suburbia (Ann Taylor Loft, Moosejaw, Gap, so lame, I know) and my Sperry's of course. What all could even be more appropriate than this in a boat town?

At home when I'm feeling driven I run a mile on my treadmill since I'm olympic bound and all (to avoid embarrassment of running outside no matter how beautiful it happens to be out). Needless to say, I'm not much of a runner.

On Saturday nights, I have been known to try to steal a "No Dogs Allowed" street sign. This is to satisfy my "badass persona". Unfortunately I failed since it was cold and I lacked a proper wrench. Better luck next time.

And sometimes I channel my inner 5th grader and think animal pictures are really cute :)

Birthday School

Decidedly dislike in-school birthdays. I suppose you get more serenades than you would otherwise of "happy birthdays" and more people in general who bother to wish you a happy birthday in the halls, but overall I would say my winter break birthday norm tops this. As much as I enjoy a plethora of birthday wishes, I would much rather prefer to be strapped onto my love, my skis. The Monday right after break just doesn't really cut it. Traditionally this is where I am for my birthday, celebrating with steaks upon a mountain top, cooked outside on a grill covered with snow. Perfection.

Work it out, PF

Paul Frank- A decidedly juvenile brand but maybe we can make it work for a 17 year old? I say we give it a try. Some birthday gifts lend themselves to inquiry, but some can be the perfect inspiration one is looking for as winter keeps on dragging on...something I would never ever buy for myself but when wrapped pretty and handed to me, I may be forced to consider twice. This specifically, would be a 7th grade relic, and definitely a blast from the past. Since Paul Frank and I have this history, from back in the day... I have a certain fondness toward it. The only problem is getting others to realize its potential for greatness... or maybe just a cozy-cute look? Maybe...
If Chictopia can do it...
Maybe I can try it out too?

Let's have some fun, this beat is sick...

For half the day I had been cleaning out my closet and putting things together, analyzing Teen Vogue and deciding which new trends I would like to try. I decided the clog thing was growing on me. I like the little floral ones a lot. I also tried to see if I could make this pair of knit color block tights with horizontal stripes work, but after a lot of playing around it wasn't really working out. They just look and feel a little too much like I'm going to a sleepover on a kid's television show.
All dressed up and no where to go? What a pickle of a situation for Paula and I last night. The whole goal of the day was to be "badass" but all we ended up with at the end of the day was a bottle of gold nail polish and grillz on our fingernails. Oh, and no further plans. By 8:30 we decided to just grab some Wendy's and watch a classic- Mean Girls. It was grool (I was going to say cool but I started saying great...).

Birthday Muses

My birthday is coming up, and my mom keeps nagging on me to give her my birthday list. Usually this shouldn't be too difficult, since there are always items that one would want, right? However this year this was not the case for me. For 3 weeks the only items I had on my list were an electric blanket and a new swim bag (since mine is literally falling apart, and disintegrating all over my stuff). Exciting, right? Why does it seem that the only things on my list are things that I need.... Well, today I really cracked down and tried to crank one out since my birthday is less than 2 weeks away.
This is what I came up with:
Harem pants: I know they are controversial in the fashion world, but I love them.
The Moleskin journal: classic.

H2O lotion smells so good and hydrates so well! Plus they come in summery scents, which is a plus since this winter just keeps on dragging on. I need that summery reminder.

Sugar Grapefruit perfume is yummy :)

This is the bag I chose for my new swim bag. It is the LeSportSac
travel tote and I'm hoping it is roomy enough for everything!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I've just been sooo busy!
Today we had a snow day, which is an incredibly rare occurrence here even though it's Michigan. I live in a town with no bus system, so they expect us to go out and shovel our driveways at 6 AM and show up. Except today, where it snowed 10 inches over night and by a stroke of sheer luck, we ended up with a snow day. I rolled out of bed around 9:30 and went down to the kitchen and looked out the window to find a lady cross-country skiing down the sidewalk! I wanted to join her until I realized it would be a bad idea considering my skis are downhill ones and it would be incredibly difficult to cross-country ski in them and I would most likely just end up falling.
I wish this was me.....

2010 Grammys

If I could perform with anyone who performed on the Grammys..... I would want to do it with either the Black Eyed Peas because they're just super fly, or Bon Jovi because come on, classic? Livin' On a Prayer is where I'm at since it totally puts me in the mindset of the mission trips I so love going on and those parties we have on the worksites...He looks like he would be awesome to be able to sing with. Too bad I can't really sing...

Also, to be able to be on stage with Beyonce would be awesome. Who wouldn't want to put a ring on it with Beyonce on stage? I can learn those steps... I'm down with that. Get me a gig.

I’d hate to be sitting behind Lady Gaga with that giant silver spiky suit and hat. Most definitely overdone and maybe a view obstruction? I feel bad for those stuck behind that mountain of a headpiece. Tone it down a little next time you come to be an audience member, sound good? Katy Perry looked cute though, cozy with her current beaux the whole time.

Eminen looks really intense when he’s performing, kind of like don’t mess with me I’ma cut you if you get too close...So I think I would rather just watch him live than actually be on stage with that beast.

a-Thrifting we may go!

Remove Formatting from selection

Yesterday my friend Paige and I spent four hours thrifting. To our delight, there was so much to offer! We picked through each aisle searching for gold. I found a few jewels, including a vintage Roberto Vianni for Neiman's skirt, a basic turtleneck, and a floor-lenth plaid wool skirt, which sort of reminds me of substitute teachers, but it was just so cool I could hardly pass it up. How to wear it will be my next dilemma... I also found some cool brown woven booties. Oh, and a t-shirt that says "Professional cat aerobics trainer" with pictures of cats doing aerobics on it...I'm sorry I just couldn't help myself! I burst out laughing when I laid eyes on it, and with such a reaction I just had to pick it up. I mean, it's only a dollar, right? It could come in handy. Somehow.... anyway, I would like to know where those people who find vintage Dior pantsuits and Chanel clutches go thrifting, and can I come? My local salvation army may have some neat 80's dresses with ridiculous poofy sleeves that reminded me of a Lady Gaga costume, but generally nothing too spectacular.
We then went to Olga's for smoothies to suffice our cravings and quench our thirst, ah yes, and exchange Christmas gifts! Over a month late, but better late than never, even though our birthdays will be coming up sooner than Christmas had passed...
Paige made me an adorable shirt with sewn on turquoise sequins as "fire" coming out of a little alien-dragon thing all on a Hanes white v-neck. She hopes to make them and sell them, which I hope she does because they are just so cool! I know at least I would want to buy a few...
